As a pontifical clerical religious Institute, founded by St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia (1851-1927), the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ) finds its spirituality in the words of Jesus in the Gospel “The harvest is rich but the workers are few. Pray, therefore, the Lord of the harvest that He may send workers into His harvest" (Mt.9:37-38/Lk.10:2).

As a gift of the Holy Spirit, every charism finds its proper expression in an apostolate necessary for the building of the Kingdom of God.

As an expression of their charism, the Rogationists dedicate their lives in the apostolate of praying unceasingly for more and holy vocations in the Church, propagating everywhere this spirit of prayer and promoting vocations, and being good laborers in the Church by committing ourselves in works of charity, in the education and sanctification of the children and the youth, human promotion and help of the poor.

St. Hannibal Empowerment Center

The SHEC mission is to empower the poorest of the poor and catalyze an integral Christian transformation of urban poor communities in collaboration with the local Church by a holistic process that addresses concerns on housing, livelihood, education, health, environment and sanitation, justice and peace, youth formation and values formation.

It envisions a  community of Spirit-led persons committed to following Jesus Christ in His communion with God the Father and in His proclamation of the Kingdom of God, with St. Hannibal as the inspiration and Mary as the guide.

The SHEC was officially established in December, 2003, through the setting up of an office in Barangay 165, Rodriguez, and Malibay, right inside one of the depressed areas and within easy access by the other communities.
