April 22, 2018— On the 4th Sunday of Easter, the Church celebrates the Good Shepherd Sunday, and the 55th World Day of Prayer for Vocations (WDPV). On this day, the whole Church responds to the call of God to pray for more and holy vocations. The Holy Father, Pope Francis, invites then all the faithful to “Listen, Discern, and Live the Call of God.”
In the Diocese of Parañaque, more than 600 youth gathered at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, for an overnight youth prayer vigil. A combination of talks, inspirational messages, worship songs and prayers, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, and the Holy Mass were organized to make the whole night fruitful and truly blest.
Interestingly, Pope Francis connects this celebration with the upcoming Synod on Youth this October 3-28, 2018. In the same way, in the Philippines, this WDPV is very much connected as well with our celebration of the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons.
With these in mind, the Rogationists and the Daughters of Divine Zeal, with joint efforts as part of their Year-long program celebrating the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons, initiated a triduum of preparation for the WDPV, which was held in three different Dioceses. The first day (April 17, 2018) was in the Diocese of Lipa, held at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Kaylaway, Nasugbu, Batangas. On April 19-20, the Diocese of Urdaneta had also its celebration in the Immculate Conception Cathedral, Urdaneta City. And finally in the Diocese of Parañaque, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary parish, last April 21-22, 2018.
