As a pontifical clerical religious Institute, founded by St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia (1851-1927), the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ) finds its spirituality in the words of Jesus in the Gospel “The harvest is rich but the workers are few. Pray, therefore, the Lord of the harvest that He may send workers into His harvest" (Mt.9:37-38/Lk.10:2).

Canonical Visit to RCJ Indonesia

Fr. Herman Abcede, the Provincial Superior did his Canonical Visit to the Missionary Station in Maumere, Indonesia on August 3-11, 2018. Among the first things he did was to visit Fr. Edgar Dacaldacal, who was still confined at the Rumah Sakit Katolic – St. Vincentius a Paulo (RKZ), a hospital administered by the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS) in Surabaya. Fr. Dacaldacal was still recuperating from the injuries he sustained from a motorcycle accident. [He was discharged from the Hospital on the 8th of August.] During this Canonical Visit, Fr. Abcede had the opportunity to encounter the community and the individual religious comprising the mission. He also held a meeting with the seminarians and the collaborators. Among the highlights of the event was the simple rite of blessing of the new seminary building in Ribang, whose engineer, Fr. Herman also met. He even presided the Eucharistic Liturgy, during which 11 new Seminarians in Preparatory Year were formally accepted. Bro. Nilo Pelobello, the Provincial Treasurer, also came to check on the economic status of the Missionary Station. Bro. Christian Allan De Sagun, the Provincial Secretary, on the other hand, documented the visit, while also checking on the Archives of the Religious Community. May St. Hannibal and the patron saints of Indonesia constantly intercede for these mission.
