Glory to God!
After months of preparation made by the AdHoc Committee, with the support of the Rogationist Fathers- Saint Matthew Province, the 1st Lenten Retreat of Former Rogationist Seminarians of Merville was successfully launched on March 22, 23, and 24, 2019. It was held at the Oasis of Prayer, Rogationist complex in Lalaan 2, Silang Cavite.
A welcome dinner formally started the retreat after the participants have chosen their respective bed accomodation. Fr. Benjie Redoble, RCJ, the Spiritual Director of former Rogationist seminarians hosted a pizza and red wine welcoming activity at the Caffe Sant' Antonio. Two guide questions were provided by Fr. Benjie to all the participants for the animated individual sharing. Everyone listened intently to answers to the questions, what was your feeling when you left the seminary, and where are you now, was given with a no holds barred and respectful attitude. The activity was concluded with a summary of what primary issues or experiences, positive or otherwise contributed to the way the participants see themselves from their Rogationist seminary experience and their current personal situation.
Three conferences with varied topics in relation to the theme " Reconnecting with the Rogate: One Spirit, Different Paths in Life" were facilitated by Mr. Ronnie Ofalia on "Goin' Home- Home is where our heart is", Fr. Jessie Martirizar, RCJ on "Rekindling the gift of the Rogate", and Fr. Ariel Tecson, RCJ on "The Rogate Charismatic Identity in relation to Pope Francis' exhortation Joy and Charity. The venue for all 3 conferences was the Fr. Antonio Barbangelo, RCJ Hall. Liturgy of the hours, recitation of the rosary, personal reflection, celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Dyads, group sharing, and communal meals filled the 3 days 2 night retreat. Visits were made to the Rogationist Novitiate House, St Anthony's Boys Village, and Rogate College-Silang which are also located within the Rogationist complex.
Fr. Ronnie Victoria, RCJ presided the culminating Mass. He posed the question, if the participants will be asked or given a choice to be a Rogationist religious/priest today, what will be their answer. Fr. Ronn encouraged that feeling of Oneness of the Rogate spirit in whatever stations of life the participants are in right now. All are in agreement and in unison acclaimed- Once a Rogationist, Always a Rogationist!
Send, O Lord. Holy Apostles Into Your Church!
