Last March 27, 2019, the Association of the Major Superiors of the Philippines organized a conference on Preventing Clergy Sexual Abuse, led by Fr. John Era, CM. During his conference, he admitted that individual psychoanalitic processes for each religious is good but he insisted on the necessity of preparing and even healing the ecology(community, environment) of each religious/cleric. He is really insisting of going beyond the individualistic approach and it would be better to have a communitarian approach with regard to the issue. He also insisted that each congregation should have their own Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy. After all the inputs, he invited everyone to join the Inter-Congregational Review Board. It has the objective to spearhead in making manuals, conduct seminars and workshops, and to conduct proper investigations in alleged Sexual Abuse reported. The conference was held in the Minor Basilica of the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in New Manila, Quezon City.
